Ford Fusion Hybrid Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

Speedometer65
I got a speeding ticket today; the last one I got was in 1992.  Part of the blame should be on the eCVT in my car.

My old car had a 5-speed automatic transmission.  I didn’t realize how natural it was to sense my speed by listening to and feeling the engine changing gears.

I find myself continuously looking at my speedometer while I drive now.  A CVT engine does not provide any useful feedback to the driver.  At highway speeds, the car feels and sounds the same driving 70mph as it does at 55mph.

From what I understand, the eCVT’s purpose it to provide the best RPM for maximizing fuel economy.  Therefore, it makes sense in a hybrid car.

My car is still new and so I still need to learn it.  But, I will be using cruise control more often and probably will be triple-checking the speedometer.
