Most corporate PCs have virus scanners installed to protect you and the company from a virus outbreak. Although some curious employees, like me, may want to learn more about the malicious code that was stumbled upon.
The Security Essentials virus scanner at work would immediately quarantine a file that was saved with the malicious logic. This is true, no matter what file extension I saved the file as.
Until...
I opened the Security Essentials app from the task tray and went to the settings tab. I was unable to disable real-time protection, but I noticed that there were a number of file extensions and folder locations that were not protected by the real-time protection Security Essentials provides. And when I saved that script in the unmonitored folder, I was able to zip it up into a password-protected zip. Now I can refer back to that logic at any time.
